Dr. Alcántara’s research interests include intercultural competence in preaching, preaching in majority world churches, the history of preaching, preaching and culture, and the role of race and ethnicity in preaching (especially in Latine and African-American contexts). He teaches Preaching I, as well as other courses including: Minoritized Preaching Traditions, History of Preaching, Hermeneutics, Preaching and Culture, Preaching Psalms and Proverbs, Preaching During the Civil Rights Era, and the Preaching of Augustine and Chrysostom. He is a contributor to Preaching Magazine, Christian Century, Preaching Today, and various academic journals.
